L Bar W Cattle Company was formed in 2013 as a partnership between Carl & Denise Loyning and Mike & Jeannette Walen.  Our goal is to develop a Hereford breed leading seedstock operation that produces cattle yielding traits needed by commercial cattleman.  We believe these cattle must not only look great and have strong characteristics but should also thrive in any environment.  We started out from scratch but have successfully built the L Bar W herd to about 200 registered females and 100 recipient cows.  We AI most of our registered herd and utilize embryo implants to expand top end genetics.  Top end bulls and females have been purchased to augment our genetic pool.

Carl and Denise, plus Taylor Romine and Savannah Fredrickson, run the day operation of the ranch.  Mike and Jeannette help out maintaining the ranch, assist during haying season, working cattle, and developing the sale effort.

Carl and Denise were raised on multi-generational ranches in the Red Lodge area of southcentral Montana and developed a love of the cattle business as children.  They moved from home as young adults, but always wanted to raise their own cattle and eventually started their own commercial herd. Those cows eventually grew to be the basis of the L Bar W recipient herd.
