L Bar W Cattle Company was formed in 2013 as a partnership between Carl & Denise Loyning and Mike & Jeannette Walen.  Our goal is to develop a leading Hereford breed seedstock operation that produces cattle yielding traits best suited to the needs of commercial cattleman.  We believe these cattle must not only look great and have strong characteristics but should also thrive in any environment.

Starting from scratch, we have successfully built the L Bar W herd to about 200 registered females and 100 recipient cows.  We AI most of our registered herd and utilize embryo implants to expand top end genetics.  Top end bulls and females have been purchased to augment our genetic pool.

Carl and Denise, along with their team, manage the day-to-day operations of the ranch.  Mike and Jeannette help maintain the ranch, assisting during haying season, working cattle, and developing the sale effort.

Carl and Denise were raised on multi-generational ranches in the Red Lodge area of southcentral Montana where they developed a love for the cattle business as children.  They moved from home as young adults always wanting to raise their own cattle.  They eventually started their own commercial herd, and those cows grew to be the basis of the L Bar W recipient herd.
